篆書
Seal script developed from the earliest forms of Chinese writing on oracle bones and bronzes. Many of the characters retain vestiges of the pictographic nature of their predecessors (the earliest writing began with pictograms, or stylized pictures of things like “mountain,” “river,” or “man”). Other characteristics are the even width of the lines, an emphasis on the curvilinear, and the formal balance of the vertically elongated characters.
Anpyeong was the third son of King Sejong the Great (1397–1450), and the younger brother of King Sejo (1417–1468), by whom he was put to death in a political struggle. He was a talented musician and painter.
