(Paul Drey Gallery, New York, New York) by 1968;{1} purchased by the Art Association of Indianapolis, now the Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields, in 1968 (68.1.1){2}. {1}Correspondence in April 1968 with Elizabeth M. Drey regarding the purchase of this painting does not give any previous owners; see IMA Historical File (68.1.1). Paul Drey had established a New York branch of Munich's A.S. Drey firm in 1920, and after his death in 1953, his widow Elizabeth Drey continued the gallery for many years; see obituary for Paul Drey in New York Times, 20 March 1953. {2}IMA Temporary Receipt No. 8087.
