Prince Golinicheff-Koutousoff, St. Petersburg/Petrograd. Nicholas Riabouchinsky, Moscow (and New York?); Sale, American Art Association, New York, April 1916;{1}Edward Stone.{2} (Ehrich Galleries, New York);{3} purchased by John Herron Art Institute, Indianapolis, Indiana, now the Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields, in 1924 (24.8). {1} See the catalogue for American Art Association, New York, Valuable paintings by the old masters of the northern and southern schools (belonging to Nicolas Riabouchinsky of Moscow, comprising pictures formerly belonging to the collection of Prince Golinicheff-Koutousoff), 26 April 1916, lot 14. In a New York Times ad published on 23 April 1926 Prince Golinicheff-Koutousoff is identified as "the personal secretary to Her Majesty the Dowager Empress Marie Feodorovna, Winter Palace, Petrograd." {2} Edward Stone is identified as the buyer of this lot in New York Times, "32 Old Masters bring only $31,850," 27 April 1916. {3} Temporary Receipt No. 64.
