This dress designed by Julie Cummings of New York was worn by Elsa Mina Basch when she married Max Klee on April 10, 1911 in New York. The style of the dress reflects a taste for soft side draping coupled with a narrow skirt, which was a reaction to the stiff hoops and boning used in decades earlier.

Julie Cummings of New York (1); purchased and worn by Elsa Mina Basch, New York (1911) (2); Mrs. Martin S. Kochman, Indianapolis; given to IMA July 23, 1974.
