"Halston was really the first American designer to make an original American statement, particularly in a time when fashion was so derivative of Europe designs. It sounds corny, but he was the quintessential American designer."

Halston's minimalist approach and his belief that "less is more" resulted in pure and simple designs that were very sophisticated. This bathing suit, with plunging neckline, is wrapped like a loin cloth at the hips and ties around the waist.
