The copies for Dr. Monro were a mutual exercise with Girtin drawing the outlines in pencil and Turner brushing in the effects with gray and blue inks.
To relieve the tedium of copywork, Turner frequently reversed the angle of sunlight, casting into shadow what Cozens had shown in light.
