Rug

Persian

Village and tribal rugs usually have a rectilinear design. The large medallion of this rug is further divided into four lozenge-shaped forms.

A variety of palmettes and boteh motifs fill the orange background of the main field. An unusual pattern is repeated in the main field parallel to the main border.

Mr. and Mrs. Kittle (Indianapolis); given to IMA December 1970.
