The four slender botehs (paisleys) on both halves of this shawl exhibit a strong European influence. However, the elegantly woven central medallion incorporates Islamic motifs with minute detailing.
The beautifully executed elongated plant forms next to the tallest paisleys are extended to form the outer motifs of the medallion. An unusual black serpentine band runs through the multicolored tab (harlequin) border, which was attached to the shawl.
