rug

Persian

This Qashqa'i carpet, influenced by sophisticated city rugs, was woven for a high tribal official, evident in the inscription and date (1333 HEGIRA) in the top part of the ivory field of the carpet.

The two concentric hexagonal medallions are filled with birds and floral motifs, while larger birds and four-legged animals with what appear to be riders fill the four corners of the ivory field.
