Moonlight (On the Road at Night)

Stark, Otto (American, 1859-1926)

Instead of a sunny French landscape, Stark chose a dark tonal scene illuminated only by a lantern.

The shadowy figures on the dark road are early examples of Stark's interest in figure studies.

Stark was the only Hoosier Group member to study in Paris.

Gift to the Museum by the artist's daughter
