These screens depict the twelve months of the year in a panorama that begins with spring and ends with winter. Each panel represents one month, although the scenes flow from one panel to the next.

Two poems based on each of the scenes are inscribed on square and rectangular silk poem cards that have been affixed to the upper part of each panel. The author(s) and sources of the poems are unknown.
