The Titans were the oldest generation of Greek gods.  They were overthrown by Zeus, his brothers and sisters in a fierce battle for supremacy.  From the heights of heaven Zeus hurls his thunderbolts, overcoming the Titans whom he binds in chains and casts down into the depths of the earth.
