  • The flowing lines that define the trees and slope of this landscape exemplify the energy O’Conor applied to his etchings. His use of plate tone in the foreground enriches the print’s different tonalities and provides contrast to the white paper of the background.
  • The Bois d’Amour (French for the “woods of love”) was a favorite sketching area for the Pont-Aven School artists. However, since O’Conor never titled his etchings himself, the specific site of his inspiration for this print is not confirmed.
