When Sloan began her long-standing collaboration with Landfall Press in 1977, she typically supplemented the full color image with a smaller edition of the basic black and white lithograph that held the purity of the drawing.
The colors and stripes of the fabric paralleled the chevrons of a Sergeant First Class insignia.
"I like my work when the line is fine."
