Signed by artist: Hiroshige ga Publisher's mark: square intaglio seal: Hoeido Censor's seal, lower left margin: circular kiwame Inscribed: kyoka poem: Ishiyama ya | Niwo no umi teru | tsuki kage wa | Akashi no Suma mo | hoka naranu kawa. Oh, Hill of Stone | the image that you see appear on Niwo Sea | Is it not more beautiful than even the moonlit Akashi or Suma? OR At Ishiyama, the moon casting light on Lake Niho is no less than at Suma and Akashi." (Trans. Matthi Forrer, Hisoshige, no. 69 [Munich, New York: Prestel, 1997]).
