Comanche Portrait

Charles B. Wilson (American, 1918-)

This lithograph was created while Wilson was still a student at the Art Institute of Chicago.

It was a portrait of one of the few remaining pure-blooded Native Americans in Wilson’s native state of Oklahoma.

Wilson’s interest in the Native Americans led him to write a standard work on the Indian Tribes of Eastern Oklahoma.

Purchased by the Indianapolis Museum of Art in 1980.
