雨後苛花図
A lotus in bloom amidst a sea of dark green leaves is truly a magnificent sight. Although the large, densely overlying leaves hide the muck and muddied waters below, the contrast between the mire and the bright, unsullied blossom gives rise to the lotus as a symbol of purity.
Wang Yachen’s expressive, sketchy lotus painting is done in the style of Qi Baishi, allowing for a comparison of their individual interpretations.
