"Browsing through a Woolworth store one afternoon, I saw a kaleidoscope on the counter in the toy department. Always curious, I picked it up and peeked through it. I was fascinated by the beautiful and colorful symmetrical designs you got just by rotating it . . . Then I wondered if I could take pictures through it."
