Woermann erroneously placed Schloss Fähna near Riga, Latvia, which explains all subsequent similar mistakes. The painting is correctly identified as located in Estonia in “Vermischte Nachrichten,” Anzeiger für Kunde der deutschen Vorzeit, volume 20, 1873, p. 117. {2} The restorer and Holbein scholar Paul Ganz informed Abris Silberman that the painting passed from the von Stackelberg family to R. von Liphart and on to Paravicini, see letter dated 24 July 1936 in IMA, Clowes Archive.
