Gallery Labels
This costume represents a spirit of an ancestor and is performed during initiation ceremonies and other important events. Dancers wear full-body suits and cover their heads, feet, and hands with elements made from raffia. A mask similar to that shown here in the photograph would have been worn with this costume.
