Beech Trees

Joseph M. Turner (English, 1775-1851)

The beech woods were the chief glory of William Lock's hilltop estate, Norbury Park, in Surrey and Turner made several deft studies of them before 1797.

Turner was invited to the region by Dr. Thomas Monro, his patron, who had his country place in the same neighborhood.
