This frontlet is parto f a headdress of ermine pelts that was worn at large, communal potlach feasts by individuals of noble birth. The eagle figure represents the family crest of the wearer. The wings of the bird open to reveal a human face within, symbolizing transformation and the deep link between individuals and the animal spirits who serve as family totems.
