竹石図
Baiitsu's brushwork is universally admired by both Chinese and Japanese painters. Its excellence can be seen in the gradated bunching of the leaves, the sinewy stems and the elegantly bending stalks, which contrast starkly with the solidity of the rocks. The method used for the leaves is called "boneless" (mokkotsu), that is, "without outlines."
