樓臺春霧
The image and style of this painting clearly indicate that the artist is Yuan Jiang, active between 1690 and 1730. Another painting by Yuan suggests that the right side of this painting once had a signature and that this edge has been removed. Because Yuan's style was based on Song dynasty traditions, the removal of a small section along the right edge allowed someone to make an attribution to an earlier artist.
The seal in the upper right has the name of Zhao Boju 趙伯駒, active in the mid-1100s during the Song dynasty. Zhao was famous for painting palace scenes and for using the blue-green style of coloring. The blue-green style of painting has remained popular to this day, and it is often used to suggest antique subjects or the ideal landscapes of immortals.
