Nupe women weave these types of cloths, which can be worn by both men and women. Men’s wrappers consist of three panels sewn together, while women’s wrappers have two panels. The Nupe take considerable care in finishing such cloths. Some have embroidered or hemmed ends, and others have skillfully plaited fringes.
The fringe on this wrapper reveals a distinct feature of these cloths: the use of two different colored threads (blue and white)for the warp of the woven textile.
