This type of wrapper with elaborate patterns was once worn by only royal women and women of high status during weddings, market days, and other special occasions. It is made of two woven panels that are sewn together to produce a wider cloth.
The intricate patterns are created by inserting colored threads in the surface of the cloth. The motifs include everyday objects such as animals, umbrellas, combs, stools, and hourglass drums.
