The technique of resist dyeing was primarily practiced in the Anti Atlas and Rif regions. However, recent discovery of these types of headscarves proves that the technique was also practiced in a region of the Middle Atlas.
The scarves were folded, tied and then immersed in a dye bath of red madder, hazelnut, pomegranate and henna, which combined to produce brown.
The sections that resisted the dye were in the shape of two adjoining figure-eights. This section was then hand painted with henna in a lattice pattern.
